“We exist to advocate on behalf of and empower women who have escaped from, or at the highest risk of, human trafficking by providing dignified employment opportunities.”

Globally, almost 80% of the human trafficking is related to sexual exploitation, while the rest is bonded labour. And, India is allegedly the hub of these crimes in Asia.
Why Sudara is Awesome
Sudara is passionate about India- where some of the highest estimates of slavery and sex-trafficking anywhere in the world are reported. And while it may seem overwhelming, they are hopeful because they are seeing how safe, sustainable jobs (such as working for them) are making a way for women to make their way out of the sex trade- or altogether avoid it.
Their PUNJAMMIES® are inspired by the beauty, colors and textures seen throughout the local culture and are crafted by brave women in the community who wish to remain free from the trade they escaped. Sudara goods are made from hope, and made for comfort.
One Step Further…
They also recognize that giving a woman the opportunity to gain job skills and a long-term career with an upstanding employer in a supply chain of like-minded companies is vital, but it’s not enough to end sexual slavery once and for all. That’s why, in addition to their Sudara products which provide training and jobs for the women who make them, they also have a non-profit arm that provides housing and education for both the women and their children.
When Bhara was of age, her mother tried repeatedly to force into the sex trade and bring in additional income. Bhara was eventually able to run away from home and, with the help of a local NGO, find safety at the sewing centers. She expects to graduate next year and become a teacher.
